The Constant Remodel

That's what our life has felt like this month. Over Labor Day weekend Chris's parents came down and we installed laminate flooring on our main level, all except the living room (soon to get new carpet...just waiting for it to come in and be installed) and bathroom/laundry room (which Chris tiled). We LOVE the new floors and are really looking forward to the new carpet to complete this main level! And seen as how Rudy ripped up the carpet in our dining room over a year and a half ago, we just gained a whole room! The laminate totally transformed this house...it's a dark walnut, so it's totally opposite of the white and grey linoleum that previously graced our floor.

Well then we got to thinking...we've never loved our green walls in the kitchen and living room. It wasn't that we disliked the color, it's just that it wasn't what we originally had pictured. So we decided to repaint too! After a few different samples and making sure it wouldn't look bad with the brown floors and neutral backsplash, we ended up coining our own color which we are calling "Thompson Gray" (it's ironic because my maiden name was Gray...get it?). That's right, gray walls. We did it all in one day (this past Saturday) and we love it! Again, it just totally transformed the rooms! It makes the backsplash stand out more, it makes our white trim stand out more, and it's really very calming.

We're so happy with the way it's turned out and it's nice to look around and see our hard work in front of us. :)
